A Guide to Information and Articles
Voice Over IP costs less than your
traditional telephone service, this is what makes
it the bees
knees to most consumers
Just last week I was browsing through a piece in FT and found about this thing I had never heard of before called a skype phone. These two are now rich beyond their craziest expectations because of selling their brainwave to one of the premier sites on the web,e bay.You are probably wondering what I am going on about. Many know it as skype. It is hardly a novel concept making a call to a friend over the world wide web without having to putting your hand in your pocket.
So all you have is rig up a phone to your laptop and you can see and talk to anyone anywhere in the world using skipe. There is a downside, however, and that is that it is most easily used over a isdn connection.Great pictures are not guaranteed however if your connection is slow.
So I went on Ebay and guess what, they are flogging phones already due to skyp.We think skype has been in existence for a year to date and it is proving hugely popular.
The bigger commercial telecom firms are beginning to sell voice over internet protocol packages.I guess the question remains is it commercially possible. Is it here to stay or will it have vanished off the face of the net within twelve months.
If previous experience is anything to go by then we can expect the big players to examine voip in minute detail. Then of course the feds will come in and regulate it.Skype are charging to make phone calls to cell phones and local regular phones, and that's called skyping out, etc.
The next big thing which voip are making a cheeky move towards is the notion of web conferencing. Voice Over IP comes pretty close, except that it will be eventually typified as an internet phone service, ready to take that next step of video conferencing which gained a lot of attention years ago.
We are also seeing an enormous amount of people using audio and video on the web now that download speeds are that much quicker.Everything says that audio and video will be the next biggest thing since sliced bread.
The next ten years will be make or break for the world of voip and only the consumers will tell us whether the free skype download is worth shouting home about. We will know fairly soon how it performs .
